This is a List of Pinched Nerve Drugs and Other Treatments

A pinched nerve can cause unbearable pain, so sometimes you need medication to relieve it. There are various drugs for nerve numbness that work in different ways. For maximum results, nerve medication can sometimes be combined with other methods of treatment.

If you have a pinched nerve, there are several drugs that can be used to reduce pain, which is the main symptom of a pinched nerve, namely:

1. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are drugs that can be used to help with pain due to pinched nerves. Examples of drugs in this class are ibuprofen and naproxen.

2. Anti-inflammatory steroids (corticosteroids)

This drug can also be given to sufferers of a pinched nerve to reduce pain. Corticosteroids are available in the form of drugs that are taken by mouth or injected. Examples are prednisone and prednisolone.

3. Anticonsulsive

Apart from being known as drugs to treat seizures, anticonsulants can also be used to relieve nerve pain, including a pinched nerve. Some examples of anticonvulsant drugs are carbamazepine, oxcarbazepine, and lamotrigine.

4. Antidepressants

Although commonly used by patients with psychological disorders, antidepressants can be prescribed by doctors to relieve pain relief. Some examples of antidepressant drugs are tricyclic antidepressants, serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs), and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs).

In addition to administering medication, your doctor may recommend other medications to relieve pain from a pinched nerve. Two common treatment methods for treating a pinched nerve are:

Physiotherapy

In this therapy, the physiotherapist will teach stretching or strengthening exercises for the muscles in the area of the pinched nerve. Its purpose is to reduce pressure on the nerves, as well as improve or restore physical function.

Operation or surgery

If the pinched nerve does not improve with medication and physiotherapy, the doctor may perform pinched nerve surgery to relieve pressure on the nerve. The type of surgery or surgery also varies, depending on the location of the pinched nerve.
